by Daniel Hall

In Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl is a lady named Mary Maloney who murders her husband after receiving bad news from him. It starts on a normal day for the six month pregnant Mary Maloney waiting for her husband to come home. It starts out normal and they were all happy until Mr. Maloney arrives home and says that he was going to leave her even though she was pregnant so she got mad at him and murdered him with a lamb and then she put the lamb in the oven She then went to the store to buy Peter some cake and then when she came back she called the police. When the police arrive they ask for the story, and she quickly makes one about going to the grocer for supper, after hearing this they ask the staff member and seeing it adds up they come to the conclusion that she couldn’t have done it. The police search the house, and after an unfruitful adventure, Mrs. Maloney asks the policemen if they would like a drink and something for supper, not wishing to make the now widow upset they agree. She feeds them the same lamb that she used to kill her spouse and there is no longer a weapon in the house.
